LED bulbs use far less electricity than incandescent bulbs and last many times longer. If you still have older bulbs, swapping them is one of the simplest savings there is.
Where to start
- Kitchen and living room lights that are on for hours each day
- Outdoor lights on all night
- Lamps you leave on
Choosing bulbs
- Compare brightness in lumens, not watts
- Pick the color you like: "warm white" (about 2700K) looks like old bulbs
- Use bulbs marked "dimmable" on dimmer switches
- Look for the ENERGY STAR label
