Budget billing: smooth out the big months

Budget billing (sometimes called levelized billing) spreads your yearly cost evenly across the months. It doesn't lower what you pay in total, but it makes bills predictable.

How it works

• The utility estimates your yearly cost from past usage
• You pay about the same amount each month
• The amount is reviewed during the year; a "true-up" settles any difference

Good to know

• You still pay for what you use, so savings still matter
• Ask how the true-up works, so a big catch-up bill doesn't surprise you
• You may need to be current on your account to enroll
